ITIL V3 Certification Scheme

The ITIL V3 Certification process (Qualification Scheme) is fairly complex.  It is based on a credit (point) system.  The following list of resources describe the process.  You are welcome to contact us if you prefer.

ITIL V3 Expert Certificate

The Expert Certificate is presented to the student after attaining 22 credits

 

Managing Across the Lifecycle MALC (5)

prerequisite is a minimum of 17 Credits

Service Strategy ST (3)

Service Design SD (3)

Service Transition ST (3)

Service Operation SO (3)

Continual Service Improvement CSI (3)

Capability Stream

Service Offerings & Agreement SOA (4)

Planning, Protection & Optimization PPO (4)

Release, Control & Validation RCV (4)

Operational Support & Analysis OSA (4)

prerequisite is Foundation certificate - 2 credits

Foundation Level

V3 Foundation (2)

or

V2 Foundation (1.5) plus V2-3 Foundation Bridge (0.5)


Recommended ITIL V3 Expert Certification Tracks

Only 22 out of 38 possible credits are required for the Expert Certificate, the student can choose various combinations from the Intermediate Level.  The following tracks are only recommendations that suit various general functional roles.

  • Service Manager Track

    • SS, SD, ST, SO, CSI, MALC - high level - ideal for all functional managers, project managers

  • Practitioner Track

    • OSA, RCV, SOA, PPO, CSI, MALC - most detailed content, longest path - ideal for consultants, trainers, practitioners, auditors

  • Transition & Operations Track

    • SO, OSA, ST, RCV, CSI, MALC - ideal for day to operations roles, Service Desk

  • Strategy & Design Track

    • SS, SD, SOA, PPO, CSI, MALC  - ideal for business analysts, architects, security managers, business continuity managers

NOTE: The Expert Certificate is not a separate course, it is a certificate for attaining a minimum of 22 credits.
